Wismar Herringdays: 11th March to 14th April 2015

For the 13rd times take place at the initiative of Wismar-Herring days of the hanseatic chefs club Wismar Bay. The tradition of Wismar-Herring- Festival goes to the 11th Century back, than the Wismar fishermen flock to the Swedish West Coast, to recreate the coveted herring. The restaurateurs of Wismar, the surrounding area and our Hotel serve their guests during the herring days specials around the herring.


Pirates Open Air Theatre in Grevesmühlen: Late June to mid-September

Hardly anyone can escape the adventures world of the Pirates: Pirates audacious, beautiful women, sailing adventures and fierce battles to huge hoards of gold lead us into a time when ships were made of wood and men of iron. The stories are inspired by R.L. Stevenson's novel "Treasure Island", one of the famous adventure novels of world literature. Both, children and adults, looking for answers to all those questions surrounding the mysterious aura of Capt'n Flint: What really happened prior to the events at Treasure Island? There is this island and where it is located? Who was this Flint? And where did he come from? How to become a pirate, buccaneer, to pirate?


24th Harbour Days of the hanseatic city of Wismar: 11th to 14th June 2015

The program offers a colourful maritime pot pourri, a lot of fun and entertainment. Traditionally, major sailors moor up in the old harbour, while cruisers and regatta sailors, official and marine vehicles provide the appropriate backdrop. On land numerous attractions invite you to look, browse and linger. 

Schwerin Castle Festival: July 2015

In Summer 2014, the Schwerin-Castle- Festival will present operas open air with view overlooking the Castle of Schwerin.

Travemünde Week:  17th  to 26th July 2015

The most beautiful race in the world! Experience in Travemünde 10 great days with a mixture of sport and fun and fascinating Passat laser performance as a evening highlight!
The Travemünde Week ends with a spectacular firework. 


Warnemünde Week: 4th to 12th July 2015

Party atmosphere on land and on water. 2.000 sailors from 29 nations, around 650.000 viewers per year participate the event of Warnemünde Week. Dragon Boat Race and washtub, beach handball, beach parties, Shanty Choir meeting and many culture highlights await visitors.


Hanse Sail in Rostock and Warnemünde: 6th to 8th August 2015

The Hanse Sail is the largest boat event and the most colourful festival in the coastal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Here encounter around 200 large and traditional sailors and about 1 million visitors. In the center of the major events are the sailing ships, museum ships and vintage. 


Swedish Festival in the historic center: 20th to 23th August 2015

Swedish feast, traditional crab eating, jubilee fireworks, Sweden Head Regatta and the legendary parade are just some highlights of the annual Feast of the hanseatic city of Sweden, which was over 250 years Swedish-owned. 


Wismar Christmas Market: 23.11. -  21.12.2015

The largest market place in Mecklenburg, measuring one hectare, with its unique historic setting, becomes a Christmas paradise for the entire family. Typical Christmas products invite you to browse and buy, to linger and wander round.

Sights and attractions in and around Wismar

Island Poel
Situated on the beautiful holiday island of Poel in the Wismar Bay you will find fine sandy beaches and a beautiful landscape. The island is ideal for walkers and hikers. Lighthouse, pilot and rescue center are worth a visit.


Resort Boltenhagen
The beautiful Baltic Sea resort in Mecklenburg which is over 4.5km long beach was already the beginning of the 19th Century discovered for bathing. Along the beach promenade there are interesting, villa style holiday homes. We recommend a walk on the 290 meter long pier. 


Provincial capital Schwerin
The old residence offers a picturesque castle with castle and palace gardens, a beautiful old town and cathedral.


Water Art

The Waterworks is a structure built to supply drinking water from 1580 to 1602 according to the plans of the Dutch architect Philip Brandin. The impressive twelve-corner-building (Zwölfeckbau) was built in the Dutch Renaissance style, and served until 1897 to supply drinking water to the city of Wismar.


Mine
The pit is a regulated stream and one of the oldest artificial waterways in Germany. About the Mühlenteich, the ramparts and the Lostener lake connects the pit the Baltic Sea with the Lake Schwerin. Your water powered mill wheels and was fighting water reservoir.


Watergate

The Wismar Watergate was built in the late Gothic style. The gate still has a typical late-Gothic stepped gables to the city side and the north gable rebuilt in 1600 shows in the form of a triangle.


OZEANEUM Stralsund

The OZEANEUM Stralsund shows you a fascinating underwater world of the Baltic Sea, the North Sea and the North Atlantic.

Eselhof I-AAH in Klockenhagen

Carriage rides, donkey rides, birthday parties and playground for children - the Eselhof is a great pleasure for families. Daily open from April till October (10.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m.)

Natural Park Güstrow

Bears, wolves, deer, owls, eagles and many other animals can be marvel at the great natural park and they are close enough to touch. Particularly impressive: the night walks with wolf feeding.

Opening hours: daily from 9.00 a.m. till 7.00 p.m.

Schwerin

Especially we can recommend you a trip to Schwerin in autumn. The historical old city and the sights are bathed from the sun in a warm and golden light.

Müritzeum

The Müritzeum is Germany’s largest freshwater aquarium which shows a lot of different native fishes. It presents also the region around the Müritz with the story of nature and children can romp outdoors at the adventure playground. So it is perfectly suitable for families.
